The Kings Arms, Cleeve Prior

There's been a pub in Cleeve Prior since 1542. Situated in a prominent position on Main Street, The Kings Arms is a beautiful, stone-built building and has been the hub of the village for many years. Since September 2023 the Kings Arms has been on the market following the brief unsuccessful previous tenant deciding to vacate the premises.

The opinion within the community was an overwhelming desire to save the pub as a long-term vital asset to the community. To this end the Cleeve Prior Community Pub Limited, a Community Benefit Society registered and approved with the Financial Conduct Authority was set up which has the aim to raise funds primarily through grants and a community share offer to purchase the freehold of the Kings Arms, renovate the building and upstairs accommodation, put in place a suitable, like-minded manager or tenant, and provide future support and help to the pub manager or tenant and look at future improvements and developments within the site to extend the offering and service to the community as a whole.

Our goal is to make the Kings Arms, "more than a pub", the thriving, vibrant hub of the community as well as attracting visitors from wider afield…….but we need your help!
